The Most Beautiful Hotels .com is the work of one person, Mr. Graham Elsom, who has been in the travel industry for more than 40 years and has made the study of hotels his passion. It is with this wealth of knowledge, that he hit on the idea of this database of very special properties, those with charm and ambience and that certain indefinable "extra" that makes them stand out from the everyday average. It is obviously an on-going work and is constantly being updated and added to, or even, on occasions detracted from, if the standards of a property have been deemed to fall from those expected. The list also encompasses other styles of accommodation such as trains, riverboats, yachts and barges

It has been designed to make it easy for a client to view the selected hotel properties or other attraction such as riverboats or yachts, either by name or by location.

They are ranked under Country, then state (if applicable) and finally under town or village. When each field is filled in and the “search” button clicked, it will then display all the chosen properties for that town or village.

If you already have the name of the hotel, you can input that directly, click the nearby “search” button and it will bring up the details of that hotel.

A short description of the property is given on the front page and by clicking on the appropriate box, a longer history, giving some background of the building, the area and sometimes the characters who developed the building or the structure before it was converted to a hotel. There are usually seven pictures displayed for each hotel and these will give a glimpse of what you can expect of the property.

They will all have a list of facilities and many will offer all that you would expect from a major hotel, the smaller ones will not have all the facilities, but all will offer something for the visitor, otherwise they would not be included in this august list.

Please be aware that the standards and service levels of some of the less expensive properties, especially those in China, may not be up to expectations. Refer to other users comments for guidance.

Please also note that for various reasons, it may not be possible for you to deal directly with the listed property. This is especially the case for China and Japan. In these instances your enquiry/reservation will be handled by Concorde Travel, Hong Kong, during normal office working hours.
